Giving Thanks for the Second Year of 3 Streams Institute
Dear Friends of 3 Streams Institute,
WITH. What a beautiful, life-changing preposition.
Because Jesus became “God with us,” for those of us who have put our trust in him, he puts us in his family to be withone another also. We are given companions on this journey, those who will accompany us. We are promised that we are never alone. We have Jesus, and we have sisters and brothers in his name to be with us also! It is in the strength of this with-ness we are watching future leaders of the church be raised up in 3 Streams Institute.
This year we have 8 Interns, one of them coming from a sister church in Colorado Springs! We are learning to walk with other churches in our Diocese in the recruiting, training, and forming of a new generation of pastoral leaders into the church in North America. And within the intern cohort we are watching lives and hearts change. Here’s what they’re saying:
“My time with 3 streams has been a season of holy reshaping and has given me the kind of formation that I was lacking as a pastor. It’s the kind that makes one trustworthy and not just effective. I’ve learned to lead from spiritual depth rather than performance, growing a posture of humility, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.” –RJ, 3 Streams Intern
“During my time at 3 Streams, I have experienced profound personal healing. I entered the internship hoping to find restoration from past wounds I carried from previous church work. Throughout our first rotation, I have been continually inspired by the grace, humility, and servant-heartedness of the Wellspring team, my fellow interns, and our church congregation, which has been restorative to my story.” –Levi, 3 Streams Intern
“I’m amazed by the graciousness and kindness of God and the ways He has used this time in 3Streams to heal many of my fears surrounding ministry and reconcile them with His unchanging character and the beauty of the body of Christ.” –Clarisse, 3 Streams Intern
Our 5 Apprentices this year are all working with different departments of the church, building up the body of Christ with others on our staff. We spend 5 hours with each other on Wednesday mornings learning, discussing, being stretched, serving, and praying.
Each of our apprentices have focused on a professional project this year; one that first sees the needs of the Body at Wellspring and then seeks to meet those needs. Olivia Wilson, for example, has centered her project on the Neighborhood Ministry at Wellspring. One of our neighborhood connectors this year said about Olivia:
“It has been such a gift to have Olivia fill the much needed staff leadership role for our neighborhood ministry at Wellspring. She took the time to meet with me in person and learn what was working well and places for improvement with our SW neighborhood. She also shared her hopes and vision for the future. Her enthusiasm has sparked a revival of the neighborhood gatherings as well as helping to raise up more volunteers and work out some of the common kinks with these gatherings. As a neighborhood connector for the last 3 years, I have felt the support and encouragement to continue serving in this important ministry, especially as Wellspring continues to grow.” –Kristi S.
Also, this year each of our thirteen 3 Streams participants have had a mentor who is walking with them, in order to love, listen, and help them discern God’s calling on their lives. Pictured below is our apprentice, Joe Monarez, along with his mentor, Jeff Nikkel.
I personally want to thank each of you who support 3 Streams Institute– you are WITH us also. Many of you are praying for 3 Streams Institute, financially supporting us, checking in with me, the interns or apprentices, or being amazing cheerleaders from the sidelines. We see you, and our hearts are filled with love and gratitude!
